Frequently Asked Questions for "blue badge scheme"

Q: I have a physical disability and find it difficult parking near the places i need to go. How do I get a blue badge that would let me use disabled parking bays?
A: Blue badges are available for some disabled people, allowing you to use disabled parking bays and also let you park in other areas where usually parking and time restrictions apply. The badges are available to people on the high rate of mobility payment of Disability Living Allowance or those registered Blind or over 80 years old. These people are automatically entitled to a blue badge. If you do not fit the above criteria, but feel you still require a blue badge, you can still apply stating the reasons together with a letter of backup from your GP, which would be considered. The blue badge scheme is administered in Inverclyde by the Centre for Independent Living on Gibshill Road, you can telephone them for an application form on 01475 714350. With your application you will need to send 2 passport size photographs and also a £2 administration fee. After submitting your application, you should receive your badge within 2-3 weeks.
